Information Reviews Complaints Los Angeles County Sober Living Homes

Based on the census conducted in 2010, Los Angeles County is the single most populated county in the United States. The population total at that time was just over 9.8 million and has since surpassed the 10 million mark. Likewise, it is also among the most populated regions for professional recovery services throughout all of California, and as a matter fact nationwide! From some of the most prestigious, high-end residential drug rehab centers and luxury or upscale sober living residences, to renowned private recovery services like interventionists, therapists and sober coaches, the pool of reputable resources out here is near endless. On the other end however, Los Angeles is also known for offering an enormous pool of resources with regard to affordable and even free and state/county funded treatment facilities.

The concept of sober living homes and transitional housing services has taken off in this area like no other part of the world! It is believed that countywide, Los Angeles has over 500 actual sober living home locations, most of which are members of their local coalition group. They fall into a wide array of options that include; coed, gender-specific (male or female only), couples, structured, semi-structured, affordable, luxury, upscale and so on. Sober living homes are also more prominent in certain cities than others. Their locations tend to coincide with the nearby geographical needs of their typical residents. Regions like Santa Monica, Malibu, Venice and West LA tend to offer more upscale and luxury homes that typically offer added networked (off-site) recovery services like addiction therapy, sober coaching, outpatient treatment and so on.  Other areas like Long Beach, Southbay, Pasadena and the San Fernando Valley are known for their wider scope of more affordable or low-cost sober living options.

Searching for reviews and/or testimonials is always a good idea, regardless of the product or service you need.  When it comes to the world of substance abuse or other types of addiction, utilizing consumer review information in your decision is of even greater importance given the serious nature of such matters.  This page focuses on sober living homes throughout all of Los Angeles County.  The reviews with large blue links at the bottom of the yellow box signify the locations that have their own enhanced private page.  Clicking on the link will provide much more information on that specific sober living as well as photos, contact information, more reviews and an em

COMMENTS:

It has been a pleasure working with Meg Higgins over the past three years. I first met Meg when she was looking for someone to help her clients with a DBT skills group. Over the years I have seen her work with clients, families, referents and staff in a variety of situations. Her consistency, compassion and professionalism embody the essence of her personal recovery and work effort. Meg continually goes above and beyond to help those in need. Whether it be to find the best treatment program, sober living, therapist, psychiatrist or other mental health or medical professional,I have seen her tirelessly search for the best program or professional that will best meet the needs of her client. What sets Meg apart is she always looks for the best fit that will enhance her client’s recovery while falling within the parameters set forth by the family. I really can’t say enough about her. Meg has been a joy to work with and I look forward to working with her for many more years to come.

COMMENTS:

I have been to several sober living homes over the course of my addiction and none were nearly as affordable, nice, and as well-kept as these homes!  First of all it only costs $140 per week and unlike most other sober sober livings, the people consistently stay sober.  I live at the Valley Village location and the manager Simon is simply amazing…caring, concerned, respectful, professional, diplomatic, etc.  They provide all the freedom I need for work & family but still afford me with a safe & nurturing environment at a cost that is far less than most other sober living homes of this caliber.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

COMMENTS:

Hi, This was exactly what I needed. A safe, secure structured environment where I could focus on my recovery. This place is good in that it teaches you structure and responsibility. Fred is very hands on. He’s tough but fair and I feel like he was very generous with me and with other people there. He would take us to meetings. He has gone out of his way to pick people up from court and from their PO’s office. The staff is cool too. They all try really hard. The place is clean and the back were the book study is done is really nice with a cool vibe. Lots of tiki lights. This was what I needed to get back on my feet. The random drug testing really kept me on my toes too, but this is place about the individual and they really try to help you. Thanks, Dalia

OVERALL EXPERIENCE (1-5): 5

COMMENTS:

The four months I stayed at the Lakehouse and it turned out to be one of the most fulfilling and worthwhile experiences of my life. I arrived feeling completely broken and hopeless, but left with a whole new outlook on life, an amazing support network and some people with whom I am sure I will be lifelong friends with. The staff at the house sincerely cares about the well-being of its residents. More times than I can count, the staff members at the Lakehouse went above and beyond their job descriptions just to help guide me through the rough patches on my road to recovery. My experience there was overwhelmingly positive and I’d recommend this sober living facility to anyone who genuinely wants to make a major life change.

COMMENTS:

I moved men and women into Uncle Dave’s houses with my A.A. sponsor for a few years without ever meeting the man. The places were well maintained and the management seemed nice enough. August 2011 I was in dire need of a place to stay and having only 10 months of sobriety I decided to contact the only place I knew, Uncle Dave’s. At the time I only had General Relief to live on and his ads said that the rent was $500 a month. My GR was only $220. I called the number listed and told him of my problem and that I can only pay so much but I’m a general contractor by trade and I could fix or replace anything in way of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc. He gladly invited me to come and talk with him. When I first met him he put me right at ease being a person in recovery as well. After telling my tale he agreed to let me move in and work for him for the rest of my rent. He did not take advantage of my skills which left me plenty of time to pursue my ongoing work search. When I found employment I still worked for him on jobs that need to be done for which he was grateful even offering to pay. I have since moved out but during my stay there I made friends with quite a few of the men which I still keep in contact with today. I am also in touch with Uncle Dave weekly as he took my to his men’s stag meeting which I still attended. I will be forever grateful to Uncle Dave and his home for my time there.
